Q/A with K.E.Y. Fitness Active Wear Owner Maya Allen

February 25, 2019

How long have you been in this industry? I have had this vision since 2017, I didn’t act on it until October of 2018 and official started November 7th, 2018.

What made you decide this was the career for you? I knew I wanted to sale fitness clothes when I stared with my own fitness journey. It’s already so hard getting yourself commited to a new healthy lifestyle. It makes it easier when you look good and feel confident while doing so.

What are some of the challenges you’ve had to deal with in this industry? The biggest challenge I had to overcome was fear. Fear of failing. Fear of dissapointment. Fear of not having any support.

What are some of the best experiences you’ve had working in this industry?Since I been in this industry I been featured as a vendor in multiple pop up shop, small business events, and black owned business events.

What projects/initiatives do you have coming up that you want to let our readers know about? Right now im waiting to appear in a Way To Parent event in Raliegh, Nc Febuary 9th, 2019 with a lot of other great vendors. I also just recently added on my friends website Favoredbyvii.comover the active wear so K.E.Y Fitness is avaible for purchase right online.

Any advice you would like to give those interested in entering or just getting started in this industry? Never give up, believe in yourself, and research. You have to be your own biggest fan promote yourself, invest in yourself. The internet has so much information and products to help you it’s just your job to find them so never stop researching. Even if you get stuck start your search over, try a new one.

Tell us about your style, how do you express your sense of style professionally? My style is based on confidence, self-love, faith and accepting myself. The K.E.Y in K.E.Y Fitness Keep Faith & Encourage Yourself. While on your health journey you have to love yourself before you reach your goals you have to love you as a person. Wear your confidence on your sleeve. Know you can reach your goals and feel good doing it. I love the 180lb Maya just as much as I love the 160 lb Maya. I just prefer the healthier Maya because I love me enough to want to on earth as long as I can.

How can our readers keep up-to-date with you and all that you have going on? Social media handles? They can follow my business page on Fb K.E.Y Fitness, and I’m also featured on favoredbyvii.com website under K.E.Y Fitness.

What inspires you to go into a particular project? Where does your creativity come from? The people I encourage and make feel good when wearing my products encourage me. When my customers send pictures telling about all the compliments they got and how good they feel makes my heart smile.

Is there anyone that inspired you or motivated you to become the success that you are today? My daughter inspires me.
