Nakia Hamilton Shines Light on Alopecia with His Latest

“Beautifully Insecure”

What is the Autoimmune condition Alopecia?

What becomes of the juvenile or an adult who is going through life suffering from this condition?

What happens when insecurities overpower ambition?

Introducing the latest production by award-winning filmmaker Nakia Hamilton, Beautifully Insecure is a film committed to bringing Alopecia awareness to the big screen. A Romantic Drama, the film tells the story of Leanna Hillmen; a woman who wants love but doesn’t quite know how to love herself. To commemorate the film’s highly anticipated release, Presidential Style will hosted the first photo shoot and live interview session on January 15, 2017 in Raleigh, NC. The next one is scheduled February 25, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. This event was to feature models coping with Alopecia as well as select members of the cast and crew from the movie Beautifully Insecure.

Beautifully Insecure focuses on the lead character Leanna Hillmen who, by twelve years of age, suffered hair loss as a result of her immune system mistakenly attacking hair follicles making successful hair growth nearly impossible. As a result, living a normal life was gruelingly difficult for Leanna. With hair often characterized as a mark of beauty and similar influences in the world of TV and the Internet, Hillmen eventually began to develop insecurities around her diagnosis that would follow her the rest of her life. From turning down college scholarships and avoiding romantic pursuits, Alopecia drove her insecurities and dictated her perception of beauty. As Leanna tries to build her courage, she realizes trying to say three simple words to the love of her life may be her biggest battle ever. To some you would think the three simple words would be “I Love You” but in Leanna case it’s “I have Alopecia.” As major transitions eventually begin to take place, and a new love interest dispels the misconceptions Hillmen had always felt throughout the years, the realization that not even Alopecia should prevent a person from experiencing unconditional love begins to set in.

Hamilton made his start on TV when he produced a show called The Crazy Redd Show. Luv Life Entertainment and Hamilton himself have since won several awards including NCBFF’s recognition for Best Documentary Gone but Not Forgotten, Encores Best Film for The Greatest Sex I’ve Ever Had and nominations for Encores Best Filmmaker in 2015, 2016 and 2017.  Luv Life produces films that are inspiring, encouraging and hilarious. Hamilton lives by the motto “Film with a Purpose.”
