Following his release from prison, Kodak Black has been very busy. He’s already gotten himself his highest-charting single so far with the Offset and Travis Scott-assisted “Zeze,” and it would seem he’s starting to consider getting into the world of charity work.
“I got my grandma a mansion in Haiti,” he wrote on Instagram after reports of him being strapped for cash started to circulated. “I never upload [or]broadcast it but I am happy to say I am building a school in Haiti as well.”
It’s not clear where exactly in Haiti he plans to build the school, but he seems eager to give back. As a child to two Haitian immigrants in Florida, the former self-proclaimed “project baby” is now living life a little more extravagantly while paying respect to his heritage.
A video of Kodak enjoying his post-prison success circulated online a while ago, with him declaring, “Look at me, hey! I don’t stay in the projects anymore. I’m not a project baby anymore, I’m a suburb kid. I’m a suburban, I’m a suburban dude.”
Chris Brown later posted a video of Kodak on Instagram live wherein he said, “These hoes be asking me for money, they be like, ‘let me get some money baby.’ I say man, ‘I ain’t got no money!’ That money you be seeing me with on Instagram, that be fake money man, that be prop money.” Turns out he was bluffing if his plans to build a school are any indication.
Recently, the Florida rapper announced in a since-deleted tweet that he was only planning to drop “one more album or two” before quitting. Kodak Black has been in and out of jail ever since the beginning of his rise, facing countless charges over the course of his career including robbery, battery, false imprisonment of a child, possession of marijuana, criminal sexual conduct including rape, and probation violation.
