The packed house in the beautiful city of Charlotte was all aglow for Tameka Raymond’s Style Theory tour. The event gathered a team of stellar beauty and style professionals whose accomplishments are as impressive and expansive as their resumes. Guests enjoyed a day of knowledge and experiences including industry tips and tricks, best practices and developing trends in hair, makeup and wardrobe styling to arm attendees with the tools to make them and their clients the “total package.” Notable stylists and attendees included: Ashunta Sheriff (Celebrity Makeup Artist – Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson, Ashley Simpson), Derickus Crawford (Celebrity Hairstylist – Fantasia, Ashanti), Renaldo Nehemiah (Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist – Ludacris, Rick Ross, August Alsina).

Ashunta has spent the last 16 years molding and creating her own signature flawless clean beauty technique, which was groomed by working under master teachers such as Vincent Longo, Laura Mercier and Pat McGrath. Last Up Tameka Raymond and Renaldo Nehemiah
Tameka attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 1994, followed by a Merchandising Marketing major in Los Angeles. Her professional career started with her employment as a salesperson; she has also worked in management. During her attendance at the Fashion Institute, Tameka worked for Armani in the retail store and since then, has styled numerous international celebrities including Jay-Z, Ciara, Nas and Mary J. Blige. Tameka’s work as a stylist gained attention of network cables MTV, E! and Access Hollywood. She has also been featured in In Style, People Weekly, Glamour, Vibe, Essence and the covers of Essence, Sister 2 Sister and Upscale Magazine. Tameka is credited as the founder of charity organization The Lost Ones Foundation, founded in 2009. The organization is a non-profit and serves as a motivational group for teenage girls. She also runs Kile’s World, a non-profit centered around honoring the legacy of her son, Kile. Tameka stars in the VH-1 reality series “Atlanta Exes” which aired August 18, 2014 alongside Christina Johnson, Torrei Hart, Sheree Buchanan and Monyetta Shaw.

Tameka talked about how she helped her great aunt in Oakland in her consignment shop very often. There she learned how to coordinate and put together fashionable ideas for people at a very young age and she is for every grateful for that experience. At the tender age of 19 she attended a Fashion Institute and worked for Macys in Los Angeles . She had a friend who worked for Motown, who asked would she work on set of a Lineal Martin video which today, we know them as ”702.” She did make-up and wardrobe and there her career started. However, she’s trying to retire.
She expresses how she’s tired of the 15 hour days, yet she’s often called to style on set because of the phenomenal work she has done in the past. Tameka has also taught at AIU stands for American InterContinental University in Atlanta Georgia. She feels that school is very important no matter how good you think you are because there’s always more you can learn. She reveals that building a portfolio using social media is a good resource, but building a personal website is the best. Also, the first 30 seconds in meeting a person is everything. Being punctual is most important and if you’re on time you’re late. She talked about how she was late on set at times and messed up relationships with people. Tameka is a strong Capricorn and says ”you need to be you, because everyone else is taken. Don’t follow trends,set them.” She says that she’s always worn what she wanted to because she likes to stand out. She says to identify your most beautiful features, and work with that. God gave it to you so own it!

On the panel with Tameka Raymond was Renaldo Nehemiah. He says that he has always been an individual since day one. Most people think he is a rapper, yet he is a wardrobe stylist. He says, ”most people are shocked because he’s just being himself with his own unique style.” He states to not focus on that mirror image, but be comfortable in your own skin. He was once stopped by Anthony Hamilton while shopping in the Gap at one of Charlotte, NC malls because he loved his style. He feels that education is very important too and he says ,” be a sponge, learn as much as you can.”
