January 7, 2015, Norfolk, VA Popular Virginia based television show, “VAdio Morning Show,” welcomes one of the hottest names in the beauty industry, celebrity hairstylist, Shiree “The Hair Icon” Mcclendon, to the show. Airing on sky4 (channel 4) every Thursday at 7:30 am (ET/PT), Shiree will be featured in her very own beauty segment. She will focus on providing viewers with tips that they can use to create various styles.
As a “Celebrity” hairstylist and makeup artist for over 10 years and a certified instructor, Shiree is skilled in every area of beauty. Having styled some of the top names in the entertainment industry including Erica Dixon of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and CoKo of SWV, as well as being selected as the official hairstylist for Tiny Harris, Tiny Tequila’s exclusive slumber party, Shiree has become one of the most sought after names in the beauty industry. Award winning celebrity stylist and owner of Hair Icon Beauty Bar, Shiree Mcclendon, started her career in 2004. It didn’t take long for her to build a following of clients including Erica Dixon of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Coko of SWV, Gospel Singer, Y’Anna Crawley, and Gospel Singer, Tamiya Carter who appreciate her attention to detail. Her unmatched expertise in lace closures, infusions, microlinks and more have prompted her to enter and win a host of hair competitions. Shiree has been published in international magazines such as Salon Digest and Hair in Motion and has lead the styling teams on various photo shoots. In 2014 she was nominated as the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards’ best hairstylist, worked an editorial photo shoot for Kontrol Magazine and was selected as a key stylist for the BET Hip Hop Awards celebrity gifting suite.
A native of Memphis Tennessee, Shiree relocated to Virginia after her high school graduation and shortly after, received her cosmetology license. Within five years of working as a booth rental stylist she became a salon owner. The first Hair Icon Beauty Bar location had only two stylists stations. With a need to be different from her fellow hairstylists,Shiree felt that she could reach more people in a broader market. Within one year, the wife and mother of four girls moved her establishment to where she has been able to employ seven stylists and a receptionist in the 1500 square foot location in Norfolk, Virginia. She was recently named one of four top hair salons in the United States Via the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards.
Specializing in all types of hair extensions and hairpieces and being a licensed instructor has allowed Shiree to stand out amongst her competitors. In 2014, she launched her hair line designed to enhance the beauty of women of various backgrounds and ethnicities.
