The Port City Rip The Runway In Honor Of His Mother Ms. Lillie Ann Heggins

November 14, 2014

The Port City Rip The Runway, which occurs during the “Bigg B’s Celebrity Birthday Weekend”, is a fashion show primarily featuring local models, DJs, stylists, designers, and clothing stores in a positive and fun environment. The sole purpose of this event is to raise scholarship money to help offset the costs of college for some students.

The Lillie Ann Heggins Scholarship Fund was named after a passionate mother and North Carolina educator for over 40 years between Jacksonville and Wilmington. She tirelessly worked to educate, empower, and expose the youth to endless possibilities. Her passion has been passed on and carried out through her children. This is when the idea of a scholarship fundraiser in her memory was born.

In addition to highlighting the local models, DJs, stylists, designers and clothing stores, this event raises funds to assist a worthy student to attend the college of their choice. This is the 4th annual event and every year one thousand dollars has been given to a deserving applicant. The goal is to increase the amount of scholarship funds to better assist more students in their educational goals.

Team Hickman” also known as Brandon and Suprena Hickman, use their talents to positively impact their community and others around them by “edu-taining” youth, consulting professionals, and planning “outside-the-box” events. A huge part of their lives were interrupted nearly four years ago with the sudden death of Brandon’s mother, Lillie Ann Heggins. Β
